Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) is an intracellular pathogen that can infect the epithelial cells of the genital tract and lead to significant reproductive issues such as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and infertility in women. CT infections are one of the most prevalent sexually transmitted infections (STIs) worldwide and are commonly coinfected with Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG).
